SD 48 – Julia Coleman

Brief info

Prior to being elected to the Senate, Senator Julia Coleman was the public relations manager for the Medical Alley Association and served on the Chanhassen City Council.

In Senator Coleman’s first legislative session, she authored and passed many bills to provide better resources for students, working mothers, children, and her community. Public safety is a top priority of hers as well, supporting safe neighborhoods and those who protect them. In addition, Senator Coleman passed funding for Highway 212, which runs directly through her district and contains one of the most dangerous stretches of highway in the state. After decades of past legislators and community leaders begging the state to update the infrastructure, Coleman succeeded.

Senator Coleman is a 2014 graduate of the University of Minnesota. During her time at the U, she served as the Student Body Representative to the Board of Regents and worked for multiple branches of government. In order to pay for her degree, Coleman earned significant scholarships by winning the title of Miss Minneapolis, and she continues to be involved in the Miss America Organization.

Senator Coleman lives in Waconia with her husband Jacob. Together they have three sons – Adam, and identical twins, Charles and James.
